How to get here:
From Palenque, Mexico
At Palenque take the local transport (Transporte „Chamoán”; Av. Hidalgo No. 137) via San Javier (1,5 hours aprox.) to the Lacandon settlement of Lacanjá Chansayab
where you can find the Campamento "Tucán Verde" - Yaaxbaché. Buses, "colectivos", every 15 minutos during daytime ($90). If they drop you off in San Javier, take another
colectivo or a taxi to the settlement. Taxis are available until sunset, more or less. They should not charge you more than $50. Be sure to specify to driver that you want to go to the
Campamento Ecológico "Tucán Verde" - Yaaxbaché.
From Santa Helena, Guatemala
From the central autobus station in Santa Helena, Guatamala, take the 5 a.m. bus to the pueblo of La Technica, which is directly across the Usumacinta river from
Frontera Corozal. The bus will stop at Guatamala Immigration in Bethel for your Guatamala exit stamp. The bus will then go to La Technica. Then pay no more than 50 pesos to cross the river on a
motorboat. Then go to Mexican Immigration, about 100 meters from where the motor boat landing is. Then go to the main collectivo station in Corozal (about a kilometer más o menos), and take the
collectivo to San Javier.
There take a collectivo or taxi from San Javier to Communidad Lacanjá Chansayab about seven kilometers away. Be sure to specify to the driver that you want to go to the Campamento Ecologico "Tucán Verde" - Yaaxbaché. You should not have to pay more than 50 pesos maximum. This is the most economical and easiest way (except for the early rising) to get here. If you miss the 5 a.m. bus from Santa Helena there are other buses throughout the morning to Bethel from the central bus station in Santa Helena, Guatamala.
See you soon!
